Block E - Slot 15
Can and should Backdrop CMS compete with Wordpress, Squarespace, and/or WIX as a tool for individuals with limited (or without any) coding skills, to build their own website?
Not everyone will agree that this is possible or even something worth trying for. But, if you would like to see Backdrop CMS moving in that direction, this session is intended as a discussion about what we can do to move in that direction. Most likely, we’ll focus on contrib ideas, but we may also discuss ideas for Backdrop CMS core.
This is not a "how to" session, it is more of a "how do we get (Backdrop CMS) there" discussion.
How can we make it easier for someone with limited tech skills (and a need for an open source solution to manage their structured data) to use Backdrop CMS?
Ideas:
- Make it easier to install, create and remove recipes.
- Make it easier to import and export content from one site to another.
- Create a better Color module.
- More themes that are configurable through the UI.
- Make it easier to change fonts without writing CSS or creating a custom theme.
- Make it easier to manage a consistent header and footer across layouts.
- Improve site editor documentation
We're not just looking for ideas, but suggestions for how to best implement these ideas.
What should we prioritize?
We have a Google Doc to collect ideas in advance of this session.
- All skill levels
